You think the Patriots don’t stand a chance because their defense could be riddled with injuries, or Bill Belichick could sew the sleeves back onto his sweatshirts. You can think of point spreads as a handicap for the team favored to win. Interestingly, the earlier research produced nine games with a greater than 10 point difference between the line and the predicted points whereas this work on 2010-2011 season produced only one play (which would have been a winning bet).
